Wow, this even made the news over here. What the hell is an agriculture commissioner anyway?
Point of order Mr. Maher:
Why do Americans always fail to remember that England is just one part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland? (You can call it UK for short, I will accept Britain, but only just, it upsets the Ulster-men).
The \"losers\" are not working with the new government. If you really want to work out a ranking system here\'s how it went: The previous administration (Labour) finished 2nd. The Conservatives finished 1st and the Liberal Democrats 3rd. No party had an overall majority so constitutionally speaking it was, in this case, down to Labour to prove they could form a government (minority or coalition). They could not. They Cons and Lib-Dems thrashed out an agreement (compromised) that allowed them to take an overall majority and PM Brown conceded defeat. Yes, I\'m a little excited at this strange alchemy but I suspect it\'ll still be political BS as usual, and yes there a lot of grumblings from the Rush Limbaughs in the Conservative ranks that don\'t like this marraige one little bit.
