Today on the 5: I recently got one of the new Retina MacBook Pros for work. I was expecting the biggest thing about the new machine to be the screen. So far, I'm being impressed by a few other things more.

Today on the 5: I recently watched a nearly lost film of the late 80s, Miami Connection. It's a truly unique cinematic experience, a movie I can't imagine being made today.

Today on the 5: Over the last few months, there have been several examples of what I can only describe as "awareness initiatives". These are usually targeted ay discrimination of some type, and all seem to miss the one real avenue of change.

Today on the 5: When the teaser trailer for the full trailer for the new Star Trek film came out last week, there was a very divided response to it. Beyond the normal good and bad responses, I was caught by a question that popped up again and again: What Is Star Trek?
