Today on the 5: In episode 966 of Security Now, host Steve Gibson talked about Tim Berner-Lee's dissafisfaction with the current state of the internet. As part of his reaction to Tim's comments, he referred to aspects of the internet as being free, phrasing which makes my teeth grind a bit. Today, let's talk about lack of choices for what is "free" and what is often hidden in lengthy terms of service agreements. Please note that none of the three 5s on this subject are meant to be critical of Steve Gibson. I have immense respect for Steve and his long running efforts to inform users on how to protect their privacy and expose terrible security practices.
